Job summary

S Guest Consultancy Services Ltd is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham to join a growing Design & Build team. You’ll work closely with the Commercial Manager and project teams to support pre-construction and live delivery on hospitality, office, heritage and culture environments.

You will assist with cost planning, procurement, measurements and valuations, and contribute to final accounts in a dynamic, modern Birmingham office.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline.
• 1–3 years' Quantity Surveying experience (placement years considered).
• Experience with a main contractor, fit-out contractor or design & build business.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with cost planning and budgeting on multiple projects.
• Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers and evaluating quotations.
• Measuring works and valuations; processing payments to subcontractors.
• Assisting with cost reporting and forecasting; variations and change control.
• Site visits and liaison with project teams; build strong relationships.

The Role

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and Project Teams, you'll assist in the commercial management of multiple Design & Build projects from inception through to final account.

• Assisting with cost planning and budgeting

• Preparing enquiries and analysing quotations
• Measuring works and valuations
• Processing subcontractor payments
• Assisting with cost reporting and forecasting
• Variations and change control
• Supporting final accounts
• Site visits and liaison with project teams
• Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a Construction-related discipline
• 1-3 years' Quantity Surveying experience (placement years considered)
• Experience with a main contractor, fit-out contractor or design & build business
• Strong commercial awareness
• Excellent communication skills
