Job summary

Galliford Try Group is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the Thames team on a large project portfolio. The role involves commercial administration, cost reporting, and collaboration with Pre-Construction, Design, and Delivery teams on multiple schemes.

You will help prepare subcontract documentation, manage change processes, and produce CVRs and monthly cost reports. A relevant degree and IT proficiency are essential, with professional qualification desirable.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree and/or experience within a commercial or construction environment.
• Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS is desirable (Incorporated membership or working towards full membership welcomed).
• Experience working on large projects or multiple smaller schemes.
• CSCS card appropriate to role.
• Good understanding of standard forms of contract.
• Strong IT skills including Excel, Word and contractual/cost management systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
• Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of construction processes.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive working environment.
• Prepare subcontract documentation, including negotiating terms and conditions, pricing, and programme requirements.
• Assist in the management of subcontract work packages, including interim assessments and change management.
• Produce and issue commercial notices to clients and subcontractors in accordance with the contract.
• Support timely change management activities, including the preparation and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
• Prepare, submit, and support agreement of monthly applications to the client.
• Collaborate with operational and engineering teams to ensure site records are accurate and compliant.
• Produce and present detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
• Maintain detailed cost plans, including expenditure tracking, forecasting, subcontractor liabilities, and Oracle-based cost analysis.
• Review and interpret expenditure reports from internal systems.
• Participate in weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Prepare clear and accurate reports for clients as required.
