Job summary

A construction company in York is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team in managing high-end residential projects. The ideal candidate must have over 3 years of experience, strong knowledge of contracts, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include negotiating subcontracts, attending site visits, and maintaining contract documentation. Competitive package offered.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of build & refurbishment projects valued between £1m - £10m.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Attend meetings and site visits.
  • Negotiate and let subcontracts.
  • Assist with completion and submission of PQQs.
  • Agree and certify subcontractors' interim valuations.
  • Provide an initial cashflow schedule for each project.

Overview

Intermediate Quantity Surveyor supporting the commercial team in delivering design & build of bespoke residential & high-end leisure projects across North & West Yorkshire that are up to £10m in value.

Key Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience working a Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor or Developer
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT
  • Preferred background in high end residential / bespoke construction projects
  • Knowledge of build & refurbishment projects with values ranging between £1m - £10m
  • Good communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations
  • Well organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works
  • Commercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of parties
Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Attend meetings and site visits
  • Negotiate and let subcontracts in a timely manner, including coordinating subcontractors
  • Assist with the completion and submission of PQQs
  • Agree and certify subcontractors' interim valuations and final accounts
  • Carry out site measurements
  • Prepare and issue subcontract enquiries and assess quotations upon receipt
  • Provide an initial cashflow schedule for each assigned project
  • Prepare and issue contractual letters to clients and/or subcontractors as required
  • Agree final accounts with clients/contract administrators
  • Liaise with clients and/or the design team during post-contract stages
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations
  • Maintain contract documentation and provide advice on pre-tender and post-contract matters
  • Assist in producing commercial, cost, and monthly reports
  • Complete and submit tender documents
