Job summary

The Lovell in Peterborough is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support commercial delivery on refurbishment and maintenance projects. You will assist with cost control, remeasurement, valuations, and final accounts, working with senior QS colleagues to develop your skills and accuracy.

You will manage subcontractor accounts, help with cash flow, maintain contract records, and build relations with supply chain partners.

Qualifications

• You will be organised, numerate and commercially aware.
• Understanding of measurement, valuation, cost control, construction or contract administration would be beneficial.
• Motivated to learn and committed to producing accurate, high‑quality work.
• Strong attention to detail with good stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project cost control, remeasurement of works and variations.
• Manage stock inventories, valuations and interim and final accounts.

Are you looking to develop your commercial career while gaining hands‑on experience across the full project lifecycle? We're looking for a proactive and detail-focused Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Peterborough. Supporting the commercial delivery of refurbishment and planned maintenance projects, you'll help manage financial and cost control activities from contract award through to the completion of client and subcontract final accounts.

Working closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors, you'll assist with project cost control, remeasurement of works and variations, stock inventories, valuations and interim and final accounts. You'll also support the administration of subcontractor accounts, helping to manage cash effectively, maintain accurate contract records and promote positive, long‑standing supply chain relationships.

As your experience develops, you'll contribute to progress meetings and work closely with clients, Professional Quantity Surveyors, design teams, supply chain partners and internal project colleagues. Accuracy will be central to your role, with responsibility for producing clear, timely and reliable commercial documentation.

About you

You’ll be organised, numerate and commercially aware, with a genuine interest in developing your career within Quantity Surveying. You'll have strong attention to detail, good communication skills and the confidence to build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

An understanding of measurement, valuation, cost control, construction or contract administration would be beneficial. Most importantly, you'll be motivated to learn, comfortable asking for guidance and committed to producing accurate, high‑quality work.
