Job summary

Ashbrittle is supporting a well-established and growing main contractor based in High Wycombe to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor into their commercial team. The role offers exposure to live projects and a clear pathway for development in a supportive, growing construction business.

You will work with experienced QS and the wider commercial team on new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects across London and the South East, with project values typically between 1m and 30m.

Qualifications

• Junior or Assistant Quantity Surveyor with exposure to commercial activities
• Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying (or studying)
• Good numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Willingness to learn and progress

The business delivers a range of new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects across London and the South East, with project values typically ranging from 1m to 30m.

The Role

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and the wider commercial team, you will be given exposure to a broad range of commercial activities, including:

• Assisting with the commercial management of live construction projects

• Supporting valuations and applications for payment

About You

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, commercially minded and keen to develop a long-term career in Quantity Surveying.

You could be:

• A Junior or Assistant Quantity Surveyor currently working for a main contractor or subcontractor
• A recent Quantity Surveying graduate looking for your first commercial role
• Studying towards a Quantity Surveying qualification
• Working within construction and looking to move into a Quantity Surveying position

You will ideally have:

• Some experience or understanding of the construction industry
• A relevant Quantity Surveying degree, HNC/HND or equivalent
• Good numerical and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Good Microsoft Excel and IT skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• A willingness to learn and progress
• A positive and professional approach
