What’s the role?

We are currently looking for a newly qualified and/or experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our friendly team in Knowsley, Merseyside. This role is easily commutable from anywhere in the North West of England. We support a hybrid working model and are keen to develop the successful candidate to excel in this position. We are open to candidates who have recently graduated or have some experience but seek a supportive environment for professional growth.

Our regional office is accessible from anywhere in the North West, located just off Junction 6 of the M62.

Responsibilities include:

1. Supporting the Managing Quantity Surveyor as an integral member of the commercial team
2. Building strong relationships with internal teams and clients
3. Managing sub-contracts, including tender enquiries, awards, and assessing monthly payments
4. Supporting the production of monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVRs)
5. Producing forecasts for internal and client reports
6. Finalizing and substantiating Final Accounts
7. Following all processes to minimize commercial risk
8. Ensuring accurate valuation of work and cash collection
9. Preparing and submitting monthly payment applications
10. Issuing early warning notices and managing compensation events

A company vehicle may be included, so a FULL UK manual driving license with no more than 6 points is required. Applicants working towards a license are also considered if they live locally.

Ideal candidate qualities:

• Drive and ambition to succeed
• Knowledge of NEC3/4 (training can be provided)
• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Numeracy, analytical skills, and commercial awareness
• Process-driven with good negotiation skills

Education to degree level is preferred; however, equivalent qualifications like HND are acceptable. Training and development will be provided to support your growth in this role. We encourage applications from early-career professionals.
