Job summary

Bovis is seeking an Assistant Commercial Manager (Assistant Quantity Surveyor) to support high-value, complex construction projects. The role begins in London for pre-construction and then mobilises to site in the northern home counties, focusing on safeguarding financials and commercial risk.

You will assist with pre-construction, delivery and final accounts, working to NEC/JCT contracts and building programmes while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related degree.
• Experience with NEC/JCT contracts and subcontracts.
• CSCS card held.
• Strong cost management and document control capability.
• Understanding of building programmes and construction methods.

Responsibilities

• Assist commercial and financial elements across pre-construction to final accounts on high-value projects.
• Safeguard company financials by managing risk, income and expenditure.
• Contribute to timely, efficient and safe project delivery while meeting commercial targets.
• Maintain client relationships and support stakeholders across the project lifecycle.
• Support procurement, reporting, and change control activities.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Commercial Manager (Assistant Quantity Surveyor) to work on a new build project in the northern home counties. Initially will be based in London for pre construction then mobilise to site.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Assistant Commercial Manager) will be responsible for assisting commercial and financial elements on high value, complex construction project(s) through pre-construction, delivery and final accounts stages.

To safeguard the financial and commercial interests of the company by managing and controlling commercial risk, income and expenditure. Contributing to the delivery of the project in a timely, efficient, sustainable and safe manner whilst achieving commercial targets. Meeting

client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business. Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain and develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Completed degree and gaining experience during the post-graduate period.

• Maintain CSCS card for the role.
• Professional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role or qualified by appropriate level of experience.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviours

• Advanced word-processing, Excel spreadsheet packages and fully conversant with cost management software / document management software.
• Degree Quantity Surveying or other construction related degree.
• NEC/JCT contract and subcontract experience.
• Demonstratable understanding of building programmes, technology and construction methods
• Similar experience either with a national contractor or on major projects.
• Developing key areas of experience- procurement, internal and external reporting, commercial package management and change control.
• Demonstrate core professional behaviours including time keeping, presentation, achieving deadlines and producing quality work consistently.
