Job summary

Bovis is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activity on a major project in the northern home counties. The role covers pre-construction through to on-site delivery on a large residential, hotel and leisure development.

You will be responsible for procurement strategy, commercial reporting, and risk management while coordinating with Client teams and suppliers to achieve value and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • CSCS card held for the role.
  • Professional Construction qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Chartership such as MRICS or MCIOB.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement of the project per approved strategy; ensure orders are scoped, value-for-money, and properly contracted within authority limits.
  • Liaise with the Client team in accordance with the contract; manage supply chain relationships for a coordinated procurement approach.
  • Robust implementation of commercial, legal, insurance and risk controls for the project.
  • Provide accurate commercial reporting and contract administration including interim payments and cashflow management.
  • Manage change processes, subcontracts, and tender recommendations to support project delivery.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior Commercial Manager) with Residential and / or Hotel and leisure experience to work on a major project in the northern home counties. This will be working in the pre construction phase through to project delivery on site.

Key responsibilities:
  • Procurement of the project in accordance with approved strategy, ensuring that orders are fully scoped, bought at best value and are correctly contracted in accordance with limits of authority.
  • Liaising and communicating with the Client team in accordance with the
  • contract. Managing supply chain relationships to ensure a consistent and
  • coordinated approach to procurement.
  • Robust implementation and management of commercial, legal, insurance and risk controls of the Project.
  • Accurate commercial reporting and contract administration.
  • This includes (but is not limited to) interim payments, management of change
  • accounts, cashflows, final accounting and contract administration.
  • You will ensure that the project is delivered in a safe, timely, efficient and
  • sustainable manner, whilst achieving project targets, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business.
Essential Credentials:
  • Maintain CSCS card for the role
  • Professional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role or qualified by appropriate level of experience (as noted below)
  • Have a related Chartership such as MRICS or MCIOB

Essential Knowledge
  • Knowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards and procedures
  • Commercial and financial understanding in the above context – ability to contribute to value engineering as part of the design process
  • Understand and apply commercial & financial procedures and reporting systems
  • Maintains detailed prelim forecasts and actual costs and intervenes were negative trends identified
  • Management of bonds, PCGs, warranty insurances and associated risks
  • Management of cost, value and profit
  • Reports accurately to the monthly forecast final account
  • Manages cash flow to the benefit of the project and business
  • Good understanding of building technology / construction

  • Full knowledge and understanding of JCT, NEC, Construction Management and Management Contracting Contracts
  • Experience in Commercial office projects managing large MEP packages and taking projects through to CAT B finish.
Essential Experience
  • Pre-construction experience
  • Background with a main contractor on projects above £30m in value
  • Proven track record of delivering successful construction projects safely
  • Experience of managing field construction activities on major/complex projects
  • Demonstratable experience in construction, including a sound knowledge of Construction methodology, process and sequence
  • Procurement of work packages in line with the Project Procurement Strategy
  • Conversion of the project from preconstruction to construction
  • Communicating and liaising with the Client team in accordance with the contract
  • Production of Tender Recommendation Reports and Contract Sum Analysis
  • Preparation of Subcontracts for execution in line with limits of authority
  • Procures robust packages with an understanding of package interfaces
  • Manages the change process in accordance with the contract
  • Prepares bid documentation to ensure a fully defined tender
