Wates Property Services invites applications for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of planned maintenance, retrofit and decarbonisation works across social housing in North London (Haringey, Hackney, Islington). This entry-level role is ideal for someone currently in a Trainee, Graduate or Assistant QS position seeking progression within a leading Tier 1 contractor.

Working with Senior QS, Commercial Managers and operational teams, you will gain exposure to JCT

Qualifications

• Experience as Trainee/Graduate/Assistant Quantity Surveyor in construction, property services or social housing sectors (Desirable).
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across North London sites (Essential).
• Willingness to pursue RICS membership or similar professional body (Desirable).

Responsabilités

• Assist with the commercial management of planned maintenance, retrofit and decarbonisation projects.
• Support valuation preparation, applications for payment and cost reporting.
• Assist with subcontractor procurement, negotiation and account management.
• Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Support variation management and change control processes.
• Prepare monthly CVRs and commercial performance reports.
• Build strong relationships with operational teams, subcontractors and client stakeholders.
• Assist in agreeing final accounts and maintaining records according to company procedures.

About The Role

We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of planned maintenance, retrofit and decarbonisation works across social housing properties within the North London boroughs of Haringey, Hackney and Islington.

This is an excellent opportunity for a developing commercial professional currently working as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, Graduate Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career.

Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors, Commercial Managers and Operational Teams, you'll gain exposure to all aspects of commercial management, supporting the successful delivery of high-profile social housing contracts while developing your skills within a leading Tier 1 contractor environment.

Main Duties

• Assisting with the commercial management of planned maintenance, retrofit and decarbonisation projects.

• Ensuring accurate record keeping and adherence to company commercial procedures.

Experience We're Seeking

• Experience working as a Trainee, Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within the construction, property services or social housing sectors. (Desirable)
• Previous experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor. (Desirable)
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across North London sites. (Essential)
• Working towards or interested in pursuing professional membership with RICS or a similar professional body (Desirable)
