Job summary

Bedford Borough Council is seeking an Assistant Psychologist to join the Experts at Hand service, working with Educational Psychologists, schools and families to improve outcomes for children and young people. The role offers supervision, development opportunities and flexible/hybrid working where appropriate.

The successful candidate will hold a psychology degree recognised by the BPS, have experience with children & young people, and demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills

Qualifications

  • Hold a psychology degree recognised by the British Psychological Society.
  • Have experience of working with children & young people.
  • Be committed to improving outcomes for children and families.
  • Have excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with schools, families & professionals.
  • Be organised, resilient & able to work independently when required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct work with children & young people, supporting families, developing interventions.
  • Contribute to service projects and work collaboratively with schools & multi‑agency partners.
  • Assist in evaluating and developing early intervention activities across settings.
