We are looking to strengthen our Project Delivery team with an Assistant Project Manager based in our Burntwood site, with hybrid working available. The role reports to our Project Manager and involves working on a £16 million wastewater treatment plant in Burntwood.
You will support the Project Manager in managing a portfolio of projects, focusing on project governance, supply chain relationships, takeover, and client-facing outputs. You will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the project team and supply chain, aiming to enhance health, safety, quality, environmental outcomes, customer satisfaction, and commercial success. The Assistant Project Manager acts as the Deputy to the Project Manager and supports client liaison.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the project team to meet all legal and industry standards impacted by the project.
- Ensuring health & safety management arrangements are in place throughout the project.
- Administering the Project Management Plan with quality assurance considerations.
- Deploying the Business Management System effectively.
- Ensuring staff working on the project are adequately trained and experienced.
- Understanding all aspects of the client contract and its cascade to the supply chain.
- Supporting the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor in notifications of potential EWN’s, CE’s, CI, or scope changes.
- Working with the team to keep project costs within allowances.
- Managing internal design costs with relevant stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the client’s digital platforms.
- Communicating project outputs to the design and construction teams.
- Managing stakeholder accountability regarding programme obligations.
- Escalating key issues and risks with mitigation plans.
- Implementing quality management and reporting, managing client KPIs.
- Leading project governance from a client perspective, ensuring documentation progress.
- Assisting in resource profiling for the project program and team.
- Supporting site progress reporting and look-ahead planning.
- Representing the Project Manager at client meetings and reporting issues.
About The Candidate
Essential:
- Educated to HND/HNC level with relevant qualifications or experience.
- Knowledge of H&S legislation, especially CDM duty holder relationships.
- H&S qualifications such as SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., APM, CMI, ICE).
- Experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects.
- Stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and able to work under pressure.
- Leadership and management capabilities.
- Full driving license.
Desirable:
- Experience in water treatment plants.
- Knowledge of digital delivery tools.
