As an Assistant Project Manager at WSP in the PMCM Rail team, you will be involved in delivering complex rail projects of regional, national, and international significance. An Assistant Project Manager will assist the Project Manager in integrating multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring project delivery is safe, of high quality, timely, and within budget.

A Little More About Your Role…
  1. Assist the Project Manager in leading multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure project safety, quality, timeliness, and budget compliance.
  2. Coordinate disciplines through meetings and workshops to resolve issues and meet safety, functional, and regulatory standards.
  3. Establish processes and procedures in conjunction with the Client’s team.
  4. Develop and manage Client and stakeholder relationships using effective listening and influencing skills.
  5. Prepare monthly project reports and data scenarios for senior management.
  6. Engage with stakeholders including regulatory bodies, authorities, and community groups.
  7. Facilitate project meetings, presentations, and progress updates.
  8. Manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns.
  9. Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting.
  10. Review expenditures and invoices.
  11. Handle changes and delays, ensuring resolution or mitigation.
  12. Identify and mitigate risks during design and construction phases.
  13. Manage RFIs, warnings, and communications to reduce project risk.
  14. Support safety leadership and compliance with CDM regulations.
  15. Develop detailed project plans including timelines, budgets, and resources.
  16. Monitor progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
  17. Promote innovative design and construction solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
  1. A degree in a relevant engineering or management discipline.
  2. Certifications such as APM, MSP, PMI, PRINCE2, or Six Sigma are beneficial.
  3. NEC4 Project Manager accreditation is advantageous.
  4. Experience in project management, including technical, project controls, and working on significant projects with client-side delivery.
  5. Experience with organizations like Network Rail, HS2, TfGM, etc., is advantageous.
  6. Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  7. Curiosity, solution focus, and responsiveness to client issues.
