Job description

At Severn Trent, we're embarking on an exciting £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands - and we want you to be part of it. This is the biggest investment in water infrastructure in the region in a decade and it is set to improve water quality, reduce leaks, and make water supply more reliable for millions of people. The new pipes being installed will last up to 100 years.

To bring this vision to life, we are creating new jobs across the region, with opportunities for those based in Birmingham, Nottingham, or anywhere in between. Join us in shaping the future of water in the Midlands.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As part of a new programme delivering full mains renewal across the UK over the next few years, we are scaling our teams through a significant recruitment drive.

This is your opportunity to be part of this exciting transformation!

Role Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Programme Manager who will work closely with Project Coordinators to ensure smooth mains renewal activities, providing coaching and support as needed. This role is crucial for maintaining compliance, including cost tracking and legal paperwork. You will be part of a team of 8, reporting to the Programme Manager for your region (North, South, East, or West).

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end programme, including planning resources, equipment, and forecasting costs and delivery timelines.
  • Prepare gated papers for schemes as they progress through the programme.
  • Coordinate the planning, ordering, and management of plant, equipment, materials, and fittings, liaising with supply chain partners.
  • Support the Network Construction Manager to ensure all materials and equipment are properly costed and scheduled for delivery.
  • Keep SAP and other relevant systems up to date with delivery and cost information.
  • Assist onsite teams with project scope changes, arranging emergency equipment or tools as needed.
  • Ensure all documentation, including HSE, CDM, and legal documents, are current and properly stored for all schemes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, owning end-to-end cost management and delivery at the scheme level.
What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple large-scale, complex projects and stakeholder relationships. Experience within the utilities or water industry is advantageous. A full UK driving license is required, as travel across regions will be necessary.
