New Road Academy is seeking an excellent classroom practitioner and credible leader of teaching
and learning to help secure consistently high standards across the academy.
An exciting opportunity to lead instructional coaching, professional development and
evidence-informed classroom practice
As Assistant Principal: Teaching & Learning, you will support the Vice Principal for Quality of
Education in securing consistently high standards of teaching and learning across New Road
Academy. This is a visible, practice-facing leadership role with a strong focus on improving classroom
practice, developing staff expertise and strengthening outcomes for pupils.
The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day implementation, monitoring and ongoing
refinement of the academy’s Instructional Coaching programme, ensuring coaching cycles are
purposeful, consistent and impactful. You will work closely with teachers, instructional coaches,
middle leaders, ECTs and trainee teachers to embed evidence-informed approaches and promote a
professional culture rooted in deliberate practice, reflection and continual improvement.
You will champion the consistent implementation of the LCT Learning Framework, support delivery
of the Trust Literacy Strategy and coordinate professional development across the academy in line
with academy and Trust priorities. You will model exemplary classroom practice, maintain an open
door classroom culture and support colleagues to refine routines, instructional strategies,
assessment practice and approaches to literacy.
We are looking for a qualified teacher with a sustained and successful record of high-quality
classroom practice, strong understanding of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, and
demonstrable experience of improving teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring or
professional development. You will be organised, reflective and professionally credible, with the
ability to inspire confidence and build a culture of continual professional growth.
