Job summary

New Road Academy in Telford is seeking an Assistant Principal: Teaching & Learning to drive high standards in teaching and learning. You will lead instructional coaching, professional development and evidence-informed classroom practice to secure consistent quality across the academy.

The role focuses on implementing coaching cycles, supporting staff development, and strengthening pupil outcomes within a visible, practice-facing leadership position.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with a sustained and successful record of high-quality classroom practice.
• Strong understanding of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
• Demonstrable experience of improving teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring or professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day implementation, monitoring and ongoing refinement of the academy’s Instructional Coaching programme.
• Ensure coaching cycles are purposeful, consistent and impactful.
• Work closely with teachers, instructional coaches, middle leaders, ECTs and trainee teachers to embed evidence-informed approaches.
• Promote a professional culture rooted in deliberate practice, reflection and continual improvement.
• Champion the LCT Learning Framework and coordinate professional development across the academy.
