Ubico Limited in Gloucestershire seeks an Assistant Operations Manager to support high‑quality waste and recycling services. You will work with the Ops Managers to ensure customer needs are met, services run efficiently, and value for money is delivered.

You will monitor performance, support projects, deploy resources, manage staff development, and help with budgets and reports. A strong focus on health, safety and continuous improvement under Ubico values is essential.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Certificate of Professional Competence in Transport Management (Road Haulage).
• Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) Level 4 - Managing Transfer Operations.
• IOSH Managing Safely certificate or prepared to work towards.
• Experience of managing a team.
• Strong leadership and people skills with ability to build relationships and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of household waste and recycling services in Gloucestershire.
• Monitor performance, support projects and service improvements, and assist budget planning.
• Deploy resources including staff, vehicles and equipment; support fleet compliance.
• Lead staff development, recruitment, induction, training and attendance management.

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and organised Assistant Operations Manager to support the effective delivery of high-quality household waste and recycling services. Working closely with Operations Managers, you will help ensure services meet customer needs, operate efficiently and provide value for money. You will monitor performance, support operational projects and service improvements, contribute to business planning and budgets, and help ensure resources, including staff, vehicles and equipment, are deployed effectively.

You will play a key role in maintaining fleet and operational compliance, ensuring that drivers’ hours, vehicle safety, Operator Licence requirements and relevant legislation are met. You will support the management and development of staff through recruitment, induction, training, performance appraisals and attendance management, while promoting high standards of health and safety. The role will also involve preparing reports, monitoring budgets, resolving complex customer issues, supporting service changes and contributing to emergency planning and business continuity.

We are looking for someone with strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, who can manage competing priorities, build effective working relationships and drive continuous improvement. You will be committed to delivering excellent customer service, maintaining high standards and supporting a safe, compliant and efficient operation. You will need
