We are currently looking for a Finance Manager – Statutory Accounts & Tax to join our large friendly team based in Birmingham. Although the role is based at our Solihull Head Office, we are currently employing a flexible, hybrid working model (2 days per week in the office).

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of 6, ensuring success through coaching and celebrating achievements.
  • Support the team technically, with guidance from the General Accounting Manager.
  • Prepare and review high-quality working files and statutory accounts.
  • Review and ensure timely submission of indirect tax items such as VAT, Aggs Levy, Landfill tax, and CIS.
  • Partner with finance teams and key stakeholders across the business.
  • Act as the main contact for external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and simplification.
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal Finance Manager – Statutory Accounts & Tax will be a Finalist or Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with experience handling complex statutory accounts and managing a team. This role is suitable for someone transitioning from practice, especially from an audit background.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP standards.
  • Experience with external audits and applying this knowledge within a business context.
  • Strong skills in preparing and reviewing accounts and disclosures.
  • Solid understanding of indirect taxes.
  • Excellent Excel skills for handling complex data.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage critical deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proactive in identifying and proposing improvements.
