Job summary

The Moorfields is seeking an Assistant Manager to help deliver memorable experiences at our Oldfield Park gastro pub in Bath. You will motivate a team, support the General Manager, and ensure smooth daily operations while upholding standards.

With an emphasis on guest service, health and safety, and staff development, you’ll lead by example during busy shifts and help grow the team toward future leadership roles. Flexible, family-friendly environment with rewarding perks.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a hospitality team in a fast-paced pub or restaurant
• Strong focus on guest service and welcoming atmosphere
• Proven ability to manage cash handling and admin tasks
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practice in food service
• Desire to develop team members toward leadership roles

Responsibilities

• Motivate and lead the team when the General Manager is away
• Create a warm welcome for guests and ensure consistent service quality
• Monitor customer feedback and drive continuous improvements
• Support Front of House and Back of House during peak times
• Oversee food quality and coordinate with Kitchen Team
• Recognise when team members need guidance and provide support
• Maintain accurate admin and cash management in GM's absence
• Demonstrate strong health and safety compliance
• Be a positive role model and develop your staff
• Aiming for future General Manager progression

We’re looking for an Assistant Manager to help us deliver experiences that delight. This exciting role will see you work in an inspiring part of the world, motivating a team of passionate people while supporting and occasionally stepping in for the General Manager.

About You

• Taking the helm when the General Manager is away, you motivate team members to deliver their best and ensure everything is running smoothly and efficiently.
• Creating a warm welcome to guests comes naturally to you, making every first impression count to ensure experiences delight from the get-go.
• Keeping a watchful eye over customer feedback means your team is always adapting to maintain high standards and improve where necessary.
• You go above and beyond to ensure a consistently high level of service, supporting the full team including Front and Back of House during peak times.
• You oversee the consistent production of a quality food offering and recognise the importance of the Kitchen Team.
• Having a wealth of experience in a similar role means you are able to recognise when team members need help and you’ll support where needed.
• A keen eye for detail means you keep all admin and cash management systems ticking along as they should, taking responsibility when the General Manager is away.
• You know health and safety regulations like the back of your hand.
• Team members see you as an inspiring role model and know they can depend on you for support and development.
• You take pride and responsibility for your own development, with an eye towards becoming a General Manager one day.
