Job Title: Assistant Headteacher – Personal Development

Salary: Up to £53,000.00 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher – Personal Development to join our close-knit team at New Barn School, part of Acorn Education.

About the role

The Assistant Headteacher Personal Development has strategic leadership and oversight of Personal Development. The post holder is responsible for driving, leading, and quality assuring the impact of staff work on Enrichment and PSHE. The post holder collaborates with the wider senior leadership team to ensure excellent pastoral provision across all subjects and year groups, supporting every pupil to enjoy learning and achieve success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Headteacher in ensuring high educational standards through designing and delivering an outstanding personal development programme.
  • Lead core areas such as:
  • Careers and Work Experience
  • Enrichment, Trips and Visits
  • PSHE
  • Staff training on personal development
  • Model outstanding classroom practice as a senior leader.
  • Provide visible leadership through school duties, behaviour support, and stakeholder engagement.

New Barn School offers a broad, balanced curriculum for boys and girls aged 6–19 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
