Job Title: Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion and SEND

Salary: Up to £53,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

We are recruiting an Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion and SEND for New Barn School in Newbury. Our well-established schools support pupils aged 6 to 19 with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), as well as other complex needs.

Who we are looking for

We seek an Assistant Headteacher to lead on Inclusion. The successful candidate will have experience working with young people with complex learning needs and understand how these needs impact learning and behaviour. Knowledge of SEMH and curriculum design principles is essential. You will foster a culture of excellence for learners and staff and contribute to curriculum development at New Barn School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Headteacher in ensuring high educational standards through strategic and operational leadership of areas such as:
  • Careers and Work Experience
  • Enrichment, Trips and Visits
  • PSHE
  • Staff training on personal development
  • Model outstanding classroom practice as a senior leader
  • Provide visible leadership through school duties, behaviour support, and stakeholder engagement

New Barn School offers a balanced curriculum for pupils aged 6–19 with SEMH complexities. The school utilizes outdoor learning, including forest school, farm experiences, and horse riding. It is within commuting distance of Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke, and Reading.
