Job Title: Assistant Headteacher (AHT) - Curriculum Development

Pay: Leadership Pay Scale 12-16, depending on experience.

Treetops Learning Community is excited to offer an opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher to join our team.

In March 2025 Treetops School was judged by Ofsted to have maintained the standards identified at the previous inspection. The previous inspection was in February 2020, at which time Treetops was judged as Outstanding. Treetops Free School, which officially opened in September 2022, was judged Good in its first Ofsted inspection in March 2024.


Students throughout Treetops Learning Community have complex needs varying from moderate to severe learning difficulties, which may include; speech and communication difficulties, autism and global developmental delay.

Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Lead the development and implementation of a personalized, engaging, and inclusive curriculum tailored to the needs of SEND pupils.
Ensure the curriculum promotes high standards of achievement and progress for all pupils.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Leadership and Management:
Lead and manage a team of staff, including teachers, teaching assistants, and other support personnel.
Provide professional development and training opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes high expectations for all pupils.
Pupil Progress:
Monitor and track pupil progress, ensuring that all pupils exceed their perceived potential.
Implement and oversee intervention strategies to support pupils who are not making expected progress.
Work closely with teachers to develop and review EHCPs for pupils.
Liaising with External Agencies:
Build and maintain strong relationships with external agencies, including local authorities, health services, and social care providers.
Coordinate multi-agency meetings and ensure effective communication and collaboration to support pupil needs.
Act as the main point of contact for external agencies regarding SEND provision and pupil welfare.
Community Access:
Promote and facilitate community access and inclusion for all pupils.
Develop partnerships with local organizations and community groups to enhance learning opportunities and experiences for pupils.
Organize and oversee community-based learning activities and events.
Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs):
Lead the process of developing, implementing, and reviewing EHCPs for pupils within their Pathway.
Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure EHCPs are implemented effectively and reviewed regularly.
Additional Duties:
Support the Headteacher in the overall leadership and management of the school.
Contribute to the school's self-evaluation and improvement planning processes.
Take on additional responsibilities as required by the Headteacher to support the school's strategic objectives.
This role is pivotal in ensuring that all pupils receive a high-quality, inclusive education that meets their individual needs.
