Job summary

Blackwell Golf Club in Worcestershire is seeking a Senior Greenkeeper to join the team and help maintain an exceptional playing surface. You will work with the Head Greenkeeper and Deputy to deliver high standards across the course and wider estate.

The role requires several years of golf course maintenance experience, strong turf knowledge and a proactive, team‑oriented attitude. Accommodation may be available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Several years' experience in golf course maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of modern greenkeeping and turf management.
• NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management or equivalent.
• PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates desirable.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-standard golf course maintenance.
• Support Head Greenkeeper and Deputy Head Greenkeeper in daily operations.
• Organise daily work schedules and guide team as needed.
• Operate and maintain golf course machinery.

Blackwell Golf Club is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Greenkeeper to work alongside the Head Greenkeeper and Deputy Head Greenkeeper, fulfilling an important role in maintaining and continually improving our golf course while supporting the wider greenkeeping team in delivering consistently high standards throughout the year.

About Blackwell Golf Club

Founded in 1893, Blackwell Golf Club is a private members club that respects the traditions of the game and is renowned for its hospitality and welcoming environment. The par 70, 6244‑yard course was designed by Fowler & Simpson and is consistently regarded as one of England’s finest, ranking within the Top 100 courses in the country and Worcestershire’s number one.

The club is currently working to deliver a course masterplan developed in partnership with Frank Pont of CDP and includes an ambitious Woodland management plan created by John Nicholson. The club also works alongside Alistair Beggs and the R&A Sustainable Agronomy team.

Recent years have seen significant investment in the golf course, machinery fleet and wider facilities, resulting in excellent playing conditions and an exciting platform for continued development.

The Role

Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper, you will be responsible for carrying out and supporting the day‑to‑day maintenance of the golf course and wider estate to the highest possible standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver all aspects of golf course maintenance to a consistently high standard
• Support the Head Greenkeeper and Deputy Head Greenkeeper in the daily operation of the department
• Assist the Head Greenkeeper in the absence of the Deputy when organising daily work schedules and guiding other team members where appropriate
• Operate and maintain our fleet of golf course machinery
• Assist with irrigation management, course set‑up and improvement projects
• Contribute to the implementation of agronomic programs and course development initiatives
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with club policies and industry best practice
• Maintain a flexible approach to work, including early starts and weekend work

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

• Several years’ experience working within a golf course maintenance environment
• Strong practical knowledge of modern greenkeeping and turf management practices
• Self‑motivated, capable of working independently and within a small team
• Flexible and organised with great attention to detail
• Good communication and organisational skills
• NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent)
• PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates (desirable)
• Valid chainsaw operating licence (desirable)
• A full UK driving licence
