Green & Fortune Ltd. is hiring an Assistant General Manager for Bartholomew’s at London Museum, opening on 28 November in Smithfield. Lead service, mentor a growing team, and help shape a first-in-class hospitality destination linked to Mr Lyan Studio menus.

You’ll own shifts, drive guest experiences, manage stock and costs, and collaborate with bar, restaurant, events and museum teams to deliver memorable evenings for locals and visitors alike.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant General Manager, Assistant Manager or similar senior hospitality role.
• Strong commercial awareness including labour, stock, costs, sales and profitability.
• Confident, hands-on leadership with the ability to develop teams and manage a busy venue independently.
• Passion for hospitality, guest relationships and memorable service.

Assistant General Manager

Few hospitality roles offer the chance to create something from the very beginning. Join us as Assistant General Manager of Bartholomew’s at London Museum, one of London's most significant cultural openings. Opening on 28 November in historic Smithfield, the museum will bring together thousands of years of London's history through world-class experiences and hospitality.

We're looking for someone who loves bringing places to life. Someone who remembers familiar faces, names and favourite cocktails, and believes great hospitality makes every guest feel they belong.

This is an opportunity to help shape Bartholomew’s from day one, creating a destination where colleagues unwind, museum visitors linger over cocktails and neighbours gather long into the evening.

Bartholomew’s is a contemporary London bar inspired by the city's energy, named after the historic Bartholomew Fair, held in Smithfield for over seven centuries.

An evolving cocktail menu curated by industry pioneer Mr Lyan Studio will draw inspiration from London Museum's seasonal events and displays. The first menu celebrates London Tastes, exploring the city's vibrant food culture, while the permanent London Made collection takes inspiration from London's past and present. A seasonal shandy and draught London Museum lager complete the offering.

Prominently located on Farringdon Road, Bartholomew’s will be a lively yet approachable destination for after-work drinks and museum visits, serving elevated pub classics and snacks.

We're looking for a hands-on leader combining genuine hospitality with commercial instincts, equally comfortable leading a busy service, developing a team and identifying opportunities to grow the business.

What makes you the Assistant General Manager?

• Operations & Leadership. Support the General Manager in running the venue, taking ownership of shifts, leading service and maintaining standards. Take charge in the General Manager's absence.
• People. Recruit, develop and inspire a high-performing team, mentoring Floor and Bar Supervisors and promoting accountability, teamwork and growth.
• Commercial Performance. Drive revenue and profitability through effective labour management, cost control, performance analysis and business planning.
• Guest Experience. Lead from the front, build relationships with regular guests, handle feedback and create memorable experiences that encourage repeat visits.
• Creativity & Product. Champion food and beverage knowledge, bringing Mr Lyan Studio's cocktail menus to life through consistent quality, presentation and service.
• Stock & Controls. Manage stock, ordering, inventory, cash handling and operational controls, minimising waste and ensuring financial accountability.
• Business Development. Grow sales and build a loyal following through relationships with local businesses, museum visitors and the wider community.
• Collaboration. Work closely with the bar, restaurant, events and museum teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.

What you'll bring as Assistant General Manager

• Experience in an Assistant General Manager, Assistant Manager or similar senior hospitality role.
• Strong commercial awareness, including labour, stock, costs, sales and profitability.
• Confident, hands-on leadership with the ability to develop teams and manage a busy venue independently.

• Strong food, cocktail and beverage knowledge, with an appreciation for quality and creativity.
