Job summary

Thomson is an environmental consultancy recruiting an Assistant Freshwater Aquatic Ecologist to join our small but growing Aquatic Ecology team. You will develop skills in survey work, data analysis, reporting and assessments, with regular opportunities for learning.

The role is based in Leeds with the flexibility to work across England and Wales. You will organise surveys, liaise with clients and landowners, and support tender development to drive revenue growth.

Qualifications

• A degree or postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in Aquatic Ecology, Hydro-Ecology or related subject.
• A valid driving licence and vehicle, insured for business use.
• The ability and willingness to travel and stay away at survey sites in various locations in the UK.
• Self-motivation with the ability to learn quickly.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Graduate membership of CIEEM (desirable).
• Relevant training or experience in freshwater survey methods.

• Organise and coordinate surveys, desk surveys and ecological assessments
• Liaise with clients and landowners
• Assist in business development by contributing to tenders & quotes, and supporting revenue growth
