Job summary

Novus Property Solutions in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Estimator to join our Bid team. This entry-level role supports pricing tenders for Public Services and Commercial projects nationwide, helping to grow technical capability and tender success.

You'll assist with take-offs, supplier enquiries, and value engineering options, while gaining exposure to multiple clients and schemes in a supportive environment, with hybrid working and a clear path to progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction estimating, cost planning or related technical role.
• Basic pricing/measurement understanding with willingness to learn.
• Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing quotations, bids and tenders.
• Support supplier and subcontractor enquiries and review quotations.
• Assist with take-offs and quantity measurements for pricing.
• Gather materials, labour and plant data for tender submissions.
• Contribute to tender breakdowns and value engineering options.
• Liaise with colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to gather project info.
• Attend internal or client meetings as required.
• Assist in assessing operational and commercial risks in bids.
• Learn to measure projects using SMM7 or NRM (training provided).

Hybrid working with 3 days in the office 2 days at home 08:30 – 17:00 Monday – Friday

We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Estimator to join our growing team. This is an excellent development role for someone with around a small amount of experience in construction, estimating, or a related technical role in order to manage small projects but who is keen to build their skills and progress within a supportive environment.

Working alongside our experienced Bid and Operational teams, you’ll assist with pricing tenders for new and existing clients across Public Services and Commercial projects. Our work spans a wide mix of projects nationwide, giving you exposure to different clients and schemes as you grow in confidence.

With significant expansion planned over the next three years, this is an exciting time to join us. We’ll support you to develop your technical capability, take on more responsibility, and play a key part in improving the success of the tenders we submit. As an Assistant Estimator, you will support the team with:

• Assisting in the preparation of quotations, bids, and tenders
• Helping prepare supplier and subcontractor enquiries and reviewing returned quotations
• Supporting take‑offs and quantity measurement for pricing purposes
• Gathering materials, labour and plant information needed for tender submissions
• Contributing to the preparation of tender breakdowns and value engineering options
• Liaising with colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to gather key project information
• Attending internal or client meetings as required
• Supporting the assessment of operational and commercial risks in bids
• Learning to measure projects using SMM7 or NRM (training provided if required)

About You

We’re looking for someone who possesses hands on experience in construction estimating, cost planning or a similar technical role at an assistant or junior leve. Bring a basic understanding of pricing, measurements, or construction project processes, with a willingness to learn more. Have strong attention to detail with good written and verbal communication skills and is confident using Microsoft Office and open to learning estimating software. And because we will support you to develop your career as a confident estimator, is motivated, organised, and keen to develop a long‑term career within estimating. Applications will not be considered from those who have no estimating experience.

A qualification within the construction sector is highly advantageous.
