Job summary

STARK UK is seeking a Project Estimator to join our Estimation team in Coventry. You will transform build plan designs into accurate, fully costed material, plant and labour estimates using our internal system, coordinating with clients and support teams to keep proposals precise and commercially sound.

This is a hybrid role with four days at the Coventry Binley office and one day from home. You’ll manage extensions, renovations, loft conversions and new builds, and you’ll use Core pricing

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating for extensions, renovations, loft conversions, and new builds.
• Ability to read and understand architectural drawings/structural specs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and cost-estimating tools.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Confidently manage estimating across a diverse range of projects (extensions, renovations, loft conversions, new builds, barn conversions).
• Build relationships with customers, service team, sales teams and local branches; demonstrate strong communication and collaboration.
• Liaise with external suppliers for technical support and estimate accuracy.
• Provide timely responses to technical queries; update estimates, build reports and processes as required.
• Handle administrative tasks related to estimating, amendments and material scheduling.
• Create estimates and pricing proposals using internal Core pricing programmes (Raptor & Planswift); full training provided.

Are you an experienced builder looking to get out of the elements and wanting a home based role? Do you currently work for a builders merchant in branch? Do you want a role where you can utilise your existing costing skills and building knowledge? A role as a Project Estimator could be the perfect job for you.

As a Project Estimator, you’ll play a key role in transforming build plan designs into accurate, fully costed material, plant and labour estimates using our internal system. Working closely with both clients and our internal support teams, you’ll ensure every proposal is precise, commercially sound and aligned with client expectations enabling us deliver profitable, high‑quality solutions every time.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Confidently manage estimating across a diverse range of projects, including extensions, renovations, loft conversions, standard new builds and barn conversions.
• Build strong relationships by working closely with customers, the service team, sales teams and local branches, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Liaise with external suppliers to obtain technical support and ensure accuracy in all estimates.
• Provide timely, effective responses to technical on‑site queries, supporting issue resolution and updating estimates, build reports and processes as required.
• Handle administrative tasks and queries related to estimating, amendments and material scheduling with efficiency and attention to detail.
• Create estimates and pricing proposals using internal Core pricing programmes Raptor & Planswift (and where necessary revise as required). Full training will be provided.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous knowledge in estimating for; Extension, Renovation, Loft Conversion, New Build (Standard) Barn Conversion.
• Basic Knowledge of Build Regulations.
• Experience of reading / understanding architectural drawing / structural specifications.
• Basic knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office package (Outlook / Access / Word / Excel predominantly).
• Excellent communicator both internally and externally, written and verbal.
• Able to work under own initiative.
• Organised and able to manage own workload.
