Job summary

Oldham Council in Oldham is seeking an Assistant Educational Psychologist on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. The role supports Educational and Child Psychology services across educational settings, with duties including assessment, intervention, training and research.

You will work with children and families, undertake assessments focused on early years, and support colleagues with training and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • To succeed in this role, you will need a minimum 2:1 honours degree in Psychology and GBR/GBC as required by the British Psychological Society.
  • A valid driving licence and enhanced DBS are required.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience of work with children and parents (e.g., teaching, youth work, mentoring or mental health support).
  • Experience in working with children in the early years is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support EPs in planning, delivering and evaluating training.
  • Contribute to assessment of individual children and young people, with emphasis on Early Years (0-5 years).
  • Provide general administrative support to EPs and maintain accurate records.
  • Keep up-to-date records of all contacts and work with families as per service protocols; provide written feedback as required.
