Job summary

Wigan Council’s Educational Psychology Service in Wigan is recruiting two 2-year fixed-term, full-time Assistant Educational Psychologists to join the Experts at Hand model and support whole-school approaches.

You will work alongside Educational Psychologists to improve outcomes for children, families and schools and have opportunities to pursue professional development and a doctorate while contributing to Emotionally Friendly Schools and related initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) required.
• Interest in Educational Psychology and working with children, families and schools.

Responsibilities

• Work with Educational Psychologists as part of the Experts at Hand model.
• Support whole school approaches and the Emotionally Friendly Schools programme.
• Contribute to safeguarding and improvements for pupils in diverse settings.

We are looking to recruit two 2-year fixed-term, full-time Assistant Educational Psychologists who are committed to applying psychology to improve outcomes for children, young people, families and schools. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Educational Psychologists as part of the Experts at Hand model supporting the implementation of whole school approaches. This will include:

• Ordinarily Available and Inclusive provision
• Whole School and College Approach (WCSA) to Mental Health through the Emotionally Friendly Schools (EFS) programme

Applications are invited from candidates who wish to embark on the professional doctorate and qualify as an Educational Psychologist.
