Job summary

Salford Council’s Educational Psychology Service is seeking a proactive Educational Psychologist to join a expanding team. The role emphasises systemic, multi-agency practice across Salford and opportunities to develop specialist interests.

You will be HCPC registered (or close to completing registration) and committed to delivering high-quality services to Salford children, young people and schools within a supportive, values-driven environment.

Top of Scale will have senior practitioner status which includes time to develop specialist interests and support less experienced main grades

Educational Psychology is entering the most significant period of change for a generation, here in Salford we are ready to manage this transition to ensure that Educational Psychologists are maximised to utilise all the skills they have to benefit our children. We are excited to announce that Salford EPS has the rare opportunity for external appointments. We are looking for EPs who are early on in their career or experienced main-grades with a desire to work systemically across a small geographical area as well as make impactful contributions to our most vulnerable individuals such as those children on at the edge of care. We need Psychologists that want the support of a large established service but with the imagination to develop systems and multi-agency practice during a time of change.

Planning for experts at hand in well underway in Salford we have robust plans to support the practice of our experts to ensure multiagency working is maximised and that Salford is experienced by practitioners as a safe place to practice and innovate.

In Salford experienced main grades will use the senior practitioner title and support less experienced main grades with their development. You may have already qualified and have more than 5 years' experience or are in training and looking for a post on completion either way we would be interested in your application.

We are a values-driven service, and this is evident in day-to-day interactions as well as the bigger decisions made about the service. We have listened to our team and have amended our service delivery model based on feedback in relation to their wellbeing. The team is highly valued in the Local Authority and well regarded by local schools. We have fantastic relationships with our schools; over 90% of whom buy traded packages for in depth casework and development work. All team members take responsibility for the day to day running of the service. There is a good balance of statutory and non-statutory work. EPs working within the service have reported that we are flexible, collaborative and innovative: "You get to follow your interests and try different projects to learn something new"; "It's a fun service to work for and people really care about what they do".

We are looking for psychologists to join our ever-growing team. The role will include:

• A friendly, collaborative and supportive team of EPs & other experts
• Support for your wellbeing including but not limited to regular supervision, carefully planned allocations, and monitoring of workload

You will be a qualified (or soon to be qualified) HCPC registered Educational Psychologist committed to offering the highest of quality service to Salford children and young people, families, schools, services and the Local Authority.

All posts require:

• Enhanced DBS Check
• Driving Licence and own transport
• Passport/ID - You will be required to provide original documentation confirming your right to work in the UK. Successful candidates will also be required to provide proof of address.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.
