Job summary

Care Dorset Limited is seeking a dedicated kitchen assistant/cook to prepare, cook and serve meals to menus across all units.

You will assist with external meal preparation, check deliveries, and ensure efficient use of materials and equipment while maintaining Environmental Health standards. The role includes 37 hours per week with alternate weekends and opportunities for training and progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing meals to approved menus.
• Ability to maintain cleanliness meeting Environmental Health standards.
• Calm handling of external meals and meals-on-wheels preparation.

• Ensure economical use of materials and equipment for cost efficiency, quality and safety.

• Ensure all equipment is kept in efficient working order.
• 37hrs per week to include alternate weekends.

Job description

• To prepare, cook and serve meals and snacks, in accordance with the menus provided.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with menus approved.
• Assist in the preparation and handling of any external meals, including pre-packed frozen meals, for meals-on-wheels delivery and the production of meals for other units.
• Check where appropriate deliveries for quality, quantity and description.
• Ensure the correct and economical use of materials and equipment, to achieve maximum cost efficiency, quality and safety.
• Cleaning kitchen areas and equipment to Environmental Health standards.
• Ensure all equipment is kept in efficient working order
