Job summary

Care Dorset Ltd in Wareham is seeking a part-time kitchen assistant to prepare, cook and serve meals in line with approved menus. The role involves supporting meals-on-wheels deliveries, checking deliveries and using materials efficiently.

Working hours are 8am-1pm or 3pm with alternate weekends, 25 hours per week. Attractive benefits include generous annual leave, enhanced maternity pay, sick pay from day one, and access to training via Litmos.

• Assist in the preparation and handling of external meals for meals-on-wheels delivery and other units.
• Check deliveries for quality, quantity and description.
• Ensure efficient use of materials and equipment for cost efficiency, quality and safety.
• Clean kitchen areas and equipment to Environmental Health standards.
• Ensure all equipment is kept in efficient working order.

Job description

• To prepare, cook and serve meals and snacks, in accordance with the menus provided.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with menus approved.
• Assist in the preparation and handling of any external meals, including pre-packed frozen meals, for meals-on-wheels delivery and the production of meals for other units.
• Check where appropriate deliveries for quality, quantity and description.
• Ensure the correct and economical use of materials and equipment, to achieve maximum cost efficiency, quality and safety.
• Cleaning kitchen areas and equipment to Environmental Health standards.
• Ensure all equipment is kept in efficient working order
• This is a part-time position, working 25 hours per week.
• Working hours 8am - 1pm/3pm with alternate weekends
