Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council Catering Services department is seeking an assistant cook at Llangewydd Junior School to support the cook with meal preparation and the day-to-day coordination of this kitchen, ensuring a quality service for pupils and staff. You will cover for the Cook in their absence and may work at other schools within the county borough.

A Welsh-speaking ability is required, and an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate is essential.

Qualifications

• Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate is required.
• Welsh language greeting ability is a requirement for this post.
• Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List is required.
• Term-time hours of 10:00–14:00, 15 hours per week.

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has become available within Bridgend County Borough Council Catering Services department.

Catering Services provide meals in primary, special and secondary schools across the borough for pupils and staff via a service level agreement with the individual schools.

The successful applicant for the position as assistant cook at Llangewydd Junior School would support the cook with the preparation of universal primary free school meals and the management and co-ordination of day to day activities within this kitchen, ensuring a quality service is provided to all customers.

You will be expected to cover for the Cook in their absence and to cover at other schools within the County Borough.

An Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate is required for this post. Training will be provided if necessary.

Working hours will be arranged between the hours of 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
