Job description

Equans is looking for an Assistant Commercial Manager to join our team in Wakefield on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

The role holder will provide pre- and post-contract commercial management support across a portfolio of Facilities Management PFI contracts within the Healthcare sector.

The role supports the protection of contractual value, management of risk, and delivery of strong commercial governance, working closely with clients, operational teams, and internal support functions.

What will you deliver?
  • Support the commercial management of FM / PFI contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, Project Agreements, and Payment Mechanisms.
  • Identify, manage, and report commercial, financial, and operational risks and opportunities.
  • Lead and support variation, change control, and claims management in line with contractual processes.
  • Support jeopardy management and audit readiness, minimising the risk of service or financial disruption.
  • Assist in maximising income, controlling costs, and improving cash performance across contracts.
  • Provide commercial support to operational and account management teams, ensuring awareness of contractual responsibilities and scope of services.
  • Support KPI reporting, performance management, and annual Payment Mechanism weightings reviews.
  • Assist with dispute resolution activities, including rebuttal of unfounded claims and preparation of contractual submissions where required.
  • Support contract audits and enforcement of EQUANS Minimum Commercial Standards.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential commercial records and contract documentation.
  • Work in accordance with EQUANS policies, Code of Conduct, sustainability, and SHEQ requirements.

Who are we looking for?
  • Commercial experience within Facilities Management and / or PFI environments.
  • Working knowledge of UK commercial and construction law.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness with the ability to analyse complex data.
  • Effective communicator with sound negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to communicate with senior members, our organisation, supplier organisations and the customer’s organisation.
