Job summary

Cygnet Group is seeking a caring Kitchen Assistant/Catering Assistant at Cygnet Hospital Bierley to support weekend meals and service for people in our care.

This role covers weekends only (10 hours total: 5 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday) in a mental health facility, requiring high hygiene standards, team work and good communication with staff and service users.

• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
• An excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision.
• Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils, dishes & store appropriately.
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic.
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

You'll be working 10 hours covering Weekends Only (5 Hours on a Saturday and 5 Hours on a Sunday)Cygnet Hospital Bierley, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

Cygnet Hospital Bierley provides a range of acute and low secure mental health services for men and women.

The hospital is set across four wards offering single-sex male and female specialist mental health services. All our services are provided under the umbrella of a recovery orientated approach and are reviewed through the CPA framework.

Your Day-to-Day...

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
