Job summary

Healthcare Homes Holdings Limited’s Claremont House in Caister-on-Sea is seeking an Assistant Chef to join a friendly kitchen team serving 51 residents. The role pays £12.71 per hour for 18 hours per week, including every other weekend, providing a rewarding way to make a difference in residents’ daily meals.

You’ll support the Head Chef, help plan menus, manage stock, and coach a small team to deliver nutritious dishes to high standards while upholding food hygiene and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen.
• Good organisational skills and knowledge of food hygiene.
• City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications preferred but training available.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked to high standards.
• Manage stock control.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team.
• Support the Head Chef with planning weekly menus, ordering, and minimising wastage.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
• Work to deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
