Job summary

Healthcare Homes Holdings Limited in Romford is seeking an Assistant Chef for Romford Grange care home. This role covers 28.5 hours per week with alternate weekend work, from 7am to 5:30pm, paying £13.50 per hour.

You will help prepare and cook meals and contribute to high quality, person-centred dining for 39 residents. You should have experience in a professional kitchen, good organisational skills and knowledge of food hygiene.

• City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential; training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality dishes.
• Manage stock control and wastage.
• Support in leading and motivating the kitchen team.
• Assist in planning weekly menus and ordering ingredients.

If you are kind, compassionate and committed, we would love for you to join our kitchen team in our lovely care home, Romford Grange, catering for 39 residents.

Romford Grange provides residential, nursing and dementia care to elderly people living in Romford. The staff at the home are very friendly and welcoming and spend a lot of time with the residents making sure they provide good quality, person-centred care every day.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
• Work to deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
