Job summary

Meadow House in Swaffham, Norfolk, is seeking a kitchen lead to support a compassionate care team in a Nursing/Residential Home serving 38 residents. You will help the Head Chef with menus, ordering, and ensuring high-quality meals.

Experience in a professional kitchen, strong organisation, and knowledge of hygiene are essential. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but training can be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in working in a professional kitchen.
• Good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards.
• City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential and can be provided through our Academy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Deliver nutritious dishes cooked to high quality standards.
• Manage stock and contribute to weekly menu planning.
• Lead and motivate the kitchen team.
• Support Head Chef with ordering and minimising wastage.

If you are kind, compassionate and committed, we would love for you to join our kitchen team in our lovely Nursing/Residential Home, Meadow House, catering for 38 residents. Meadow House offers residential and nursing care to the Norfolk community. The facility also provides care for young people with disabilities and specialises in caring for individuals with multiple sclerosis. The home is entirely on the ground floor and has a very friendly atmosphere - where everyone is treated like family.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
• Work to deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
