Job summary

CPJ Recruitment is recruiting for an Assistant Branch Manager in Watford. This role supports the Branch Manager, deputises in their absence and drives branch performance across sales, margin, stock and service standards.

You will build relationships with trade customers, contractors and local authorities, grow existing accounts and win new business, visiting sites and customers to convert opportunities into orders. Full training and long-term progression are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous face to face sales experience.
• Experience of account management and/or business development.
• Confident building relationships and engaging with customers at all levels.
• Commercially minded with a proactive approach to spotting and winning opportunities.
• Excellent attitude, a genuine team player, motivated and driven.
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship building skills.
• Comfortable taking responsibility and working on your own initiative.
• Industry experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.

The Role

• Supporting the Branch Manager to run a busy builders merchant branch, and deputising in their absence
• Taking day to day ownership of branch performance, including sales, margin, stock and customer service standards
• Building and developing relationships with trade customers, contractors, housebuilders and local authorities
• Growing existing trade accounts while proactively identifying and winning new business for the branch
• Getting out to visit customers and sites to develop opportunities, from first contact through to completed orders
• Leading, motivating and developing the branch team across the trade counter, yard and sales desk
• Keeping the branch running safely and efficiently, with a firm grip on stock, deliveries and health and safety
• Working alongside an experienced management team who will provide full training, guidance and ongoing development

The Candidate

• Up to £45,000 basic salary
• £12,000 to £20,000 OTE
