Job summary

Brook Street is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager for a busy Builders Merchants in Aberystwyth. Working Monday to Friday days with 1 in 2 Saturday mornings, you will support the Branch Manager, drive sales, and lead a motivated team to deliver outstanding customer service.

You will play a key role in growth, profitability, staff development, and ensuring smooth branch operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven management experience, ideally in a builders' merchant, retail, or trade environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager in the day-to-day running of the branch and deputise in their absence.
• Drive sales performance by identifying customer needs, providing quotations, and maximising opportunities with both new and existing customers.
• Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers, ensuring a first-class service experience.
• Assist with branch merchandising, stock management, and supplier relationships.
• Monitor local market activity, competitor trends, and customer demand to help develop branch growth strategies.
• Support financial performance through effective stock control, debtor management, cash collection, and profit improvement initiatives.
• Help lead, motivate, and develop the branch team, ensuring high standards, productivity, and compliance with company procedures.
• Support recruitment, training, coaching, and ongoing development of staff.
