Job summary

Cadent Gas Ltd invites an experienced Assistant Authorising Engineer to join the Engineering and Operational Safety team in the UK. You’ll review, inspect and authorise engineering work and support Safe Control of Operations across the gas network, collaborating with engineers, operators and Local Delivery Partners to uphold safety and compliance.

You’ll bring Chartered or equivalent experience in safety-critical environments, with strong governance knowledge and a focus on risk mitigation,

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer with Chartered status or equivalent experience.
• Experience in gas/utilities or safety-critical environments is preferred.
• Knowledge of engineering governance frameworks and relevant legislation (PSSR/PSR/SCO).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assurance and oversight across gas network activities.
• Review, inspect and authorise engineering work in line with SCO and policies.
• Liaise with Local Delivery Partners and operational teams to maintain standards.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and safety practices.
• Contribute to decisions on RO and NRO documentation and activities.
