Job summary

Cadent Gas is seeking a Lead Gas Engineer to safeguard high-pressure assets across our network. You will manage workload independently, perform maintenance on pressure control installations up to 85 bar, and advise on safe working practices across a wide geographic area.

This role delivers hands-on maintenance, fault response, and ongoing asset integrity, contributing to the resilience of Cadent’s gas network and public safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in pipeline maintenance or mechanical/engineering environments.
• Mechanical or engineering maintenance qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent desirable).
• Strong understanding of mechanical operations and asset maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on pressure regulating installations (up to 85 bar).
• Respond to system alerts and diagnose issues, restoring operation quickly and safely.
• Inspect assets, monitor condition and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Work with a multi-skilled team and help build capability and resilience across the function.
• Protect public safety and ensure continuity of supply.
