Job summary

Cadent Gas Ltd is seeking an Assistant Authorising Engineer to join our Engineering and Operational Safety team, providing technical assurance, engineering oversight and specialist advice across the gas network assets.

You will work with Authorising Engineers, operational teams and Local Delivery Partners to review, inspect and authorise engineering work, support Safe Control of Operations, and ensure compliance with legislation, standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer with Chartership or equivalent level.
• Valid UK driving licence required.
• Experience in gas, utilities, infrastructure or safety-critical environments.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and governance frameworks (PSSR, PSR, EWR, SCO).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assurance and engineering oversight for network activities.
• Review, inspect and authorise engineering work in compliance with policies.
• Support Safe Control of Operations (SCO) and regulatory compliance.
• Engage with Local Delivery Partners and stakeholders to maintain standards.
