Bennett & Game Recruitment in Leeds is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support bookkeeping, payroll and accounts preparation for a varied client base. You will work alongside experienced accountants, gaining exposure to a range of day-to-day duties and developing your technical skills.

The role suits someone with prior accountancy practice experience and a basic understanding of bookkeeping and payroll, with a proactive approach to learning.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accountancy practice essential.
• Practical bookkeeping, payroll and basic accounts prep.
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good written and verbal communication; proactive learner.
• Competent IT skills; accounting software experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bookkeeping and maintain client records.
• Support preparation of accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
• Assist with payroll processing and admin.
• Process invoices, bank transactions and records.
• Carry out bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist VAT returns and other routine submissions.
• Collaborate with team to meet deadlines.
• Develop technical knowledge across bookkeeping and payroll.
