Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd is seeking a hands-on Semi-Senior Accountant in Cottingham, England. The role sits between senior management and trainees, reviewing work, managing client portfolios, and supporting junior staff development.

You will manage about 40 clients, prepare year-end accounts and corporation tax, personal tax and VAT returns, CIS and payroll matters, and act as the main client contact while guiding a small team. Flexible and hybrid working available.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a varied client portfolio independently.
• Willingness to mentor juniors and support professional development.
• Experience in a professional accountancy environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 40 clients.
• Prepare year-end accounts and corporation tax returns.
• Prepare personal tax and VAT returns.
• Deal with CIS and payroll matters.
• Review work by junior staff and trainees, ensuring accuracy.
• Act as primary client contact and maintain strong relationships.
• Support junior team members and assist with their development.
• Assist with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance and software implementation.
