Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Accountant in Leeds to support bookkeeping, payroll and accounts preparation for a diverse client base. You will work with experienced accountants, gain exposure to accounting duties, and receive guidance and training to grow in your career.

The role suits someone with basic bookkeeping knowledge and a desire to progress technically within an established, supportive practice. Hybrid working and development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice is essential.
• Practical experience in bookkeeping, payroll and basic accounts preparation.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workloads.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive approach with willingness to learn and develop skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records for a range of clients.
• Supporting the preparation of accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
• Assisting with payroll processing and associated administration.
• Processing purchase and sales invoices, bank transactions and financial records.
• Carrying out bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
• Assisting with VAT returns and other routine financial submissions.
• Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring information is up to date.
• Liaising with colleagues and clients to obtain missing information and resolve queries.
• Supporting the wider accounting team with day-to-day duties and meeting deadlines.
• Developing technical knowledge across bookkeeping, payroll, accounts preparation and other areas of accountancy.
