Job summary

Accountable Recruitment Limited is recruiting an ambitious Assistant Accountant in Liverpool. This role is ideal for someone studying towards an accounting qualification or seeking development in management accounting and commercial finance responsibilities.

You will work with a finance team on management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering to add real value. The position offers hybrid working from the Liverpool area and strong study support to help you progress toward

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
• Experience supporting or producing management accounts.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Excellent communication and the ability to build relationships across the business.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Produce weekly management accounts, KPIs and supporting analysis.
• Assist with monthly management accounts preparation.
• Analyse financial performance and investigate variances vs budgets/forecasts.
• Complete bank and cash reconciliations.
• Prepare payroll analysis and relevant journals.
• Manage accruals and prepayments.
• Produce balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Assist with year‑end audit requirements and liaise with auditors.
• Conduct internal audit reviews to strengthen financial controls.
• Prepare information for taxation calculations and reporting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insight.
