Job summary

The University of Law is seeking an experienced Assessment Manager to lead results, progression and awards across our UK and overseas campuses and online provision. You will manage a small team, oversee boards and transcripts, and ensure high standards of assessment integrity and policy compliance.

Hybrid role with two days on campus and remote work. The starting salary is around £46,800 with benefits including annual leave, private medical, pension, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in assessment, student records or course administration.
  • Experience leading and managing teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and large/complex databases.
  • Experience with assessment systems and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small team of Business Professionals, managing workload and development.
  • Lead the results publication, progression and awards processes across the University and partnership.
  • Oversee Exam and Award Boards, results calculations, transcripts and graduation eligibility.
  • Work with programme teams, collaborative partners and external examiners to ensure marking standards.
  • Develop operational relationships with partners and act as a key contact and escalation point.

Job description

The University of Law is looking for an experienced and highly organised Assessment Manager – Results, Progression & Awards to join our Assessments team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced assessment, student records or education professional to take a lead role in ensuring our students receive an exceptional assessment experience, from the management of results through to progression, awards and graduation.

As Assessment Manager, you will provide operational leadership across our UK and overseas campuses and online provision, primarily focusing on our collaborative partner London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA). You will play a key role in safeguarding the accuracy, integrity and compliance of assessment outcomes and University awards, while driving continuous improvement across our assessment processes including designing and defining of new process.

This is a full-time permanent position and the role adopts a hybrid approach spending time working remotely and 2 days a week at one of our UK ULaw Campuses.

As Our Assessment Manager, you Will
  • Lead and develop a small team of Business Professional colleagues, managing workload, performance and development while creating a positive, supportive and high-performing team culture.
  • Lead the results publication, progression and awards processes across the University and partnership.
  • Oversee Exam and Award Boards, results calculations, transcripts, certificates and graduation eligibility.
  • Work closely with programme teams, collaborative partners and external examiners to ensure marking standards and assessment outcomes are appropriately managed.
  • Develop strong operational relationships with collaborative partners, acting as a key point of contact and escalation.
  • Monitor partner performance against agreed service levels and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide expert advice on complex and non-standard assessment cases, regulations and policies.
  • Support the integrity of assessments and awards, including academic misconduct processes.
  • Acting as a technical expert and superuser for assessment systems, including Banner, identifying system improvements and developing effective solutions where automated processes are not available.
Is this you?
  • Experience of successfully managing responsibilities within an assessment, student records, course administration or similar environment.
  • Experience of working in an educational environment, ideally with knowledge of assessments or student records.
  • Experience of team leadership and staff management.
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and remain calm and effective under pressure. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deal confidently with complex issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with confidence working with data and complex information.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and large/complex databases.
