Job summary

Lymington Precision Engineers, part of the Senior Flexonics group, are seeking an Assembly Operative to join a skilled team manufacturing high-value components. The role focuses on detailed finishing, assembly to tight specifications, and maintaining production records in a high-precision environment.

39 hours per week with a core shift Mon-Thu mornings and Fri mornings. Requires a minimum of 3 years metalworking experience; knowledge of stainless steel/aluminum is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a skilled metal worker and finisher.
  • Experienced in Assembly to fine limits and tolerances.
  • Experience of working in a metal manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of handling large yet delicate engineering assemblies.
  • Knowledge of stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Able to interpret drawing requirements.
  • Desirable aerospace/industrial background.
  • Desirable health and safety knowledge.
  • Desirable welding/brazing and assembly machining experience.

  • Part Marking / Cleaning of components
  • Ensure production times met per Shop Order
  • Maintain quality and attention to detail
  • Raise quality concerns when needed
  • Maintain all Shop Order logs and provide updates to Production Manager
  • Work to tight tolerances per LPE standards
  • Maintain area cleanliness
  • Meet schedule with team
  • Flexibility across section to aid production

Job Description

Assembly Operative - What does the job involve?

The role is required to work as part of a skilled team of multi-disciplined functions. There must be sufficient expertise and confidence clearly demonstrated by experience and/or qualification to work effectively and efficiently on components and assemblies of high value. The job involves working on a range of components and assemblies to carry out various assembly and fitting operations which may include

Hours of work: 39 hours per week.

Core shift - Monday to Thursday 6.45am to 3.30pm and Friday 7.00am to 1.00pm with 30-minute break for lunch

Assembly Operative - What will my responsibilities include?’

  • Detailed finishing
  • Assembly in accordance with detailed engineering specifications
  • Pressure Testing
  • Hand polishing
  • Fettling
  • Blasting
  • Part Marking / Cleaning of components
  • Ensure production times are met in line with each Shop Order.
  • Focus on Quality and detail.
  • Raise quality concerns as and when required.
  • Maintain all Shop Order record logs for completion and accuracy.
  • Provide accurate updates of Shop Orders to the Production Manager
  • Able to work to tight tolerances to LPE’s visual acceptance standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of area.
  • Able to meet schedule/timelines in conjunction with the rest of the team.
  • Flexibility across this section to aid production.

Assembly Operative - What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential)

  • Experience of working in a metal manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of how to handle and protect large yet delicate engineering assemblies
  • Knowledge and experience of working with special metals like stainless steel and aluminum
  • Experienced at interpreting drawing requirements.
  • Previous experience in either an aerospace or industrial background (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements (Desirable)
  • Experience in assembly work and welding / brazing (Desirable)
  • Assembly Machining experience (Desirable)
Qualifications

  • O level, CSE, GCSE Minimum
  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship (Desirable)
  • Security Clearance (Desirable)
