Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a motivated Trainee SEN Teacher to work across Northamptonshire specialist settings, gaining hands-on experience and developing teaching skills through short-term and long-term placements.

You do not necessarily need a qualified teacher status; any background in education, childcare, coaching or mentoring is welcome, with ongoing CPD opportunities and dedicated support to help you progress in SEN education.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for working with children and young people with additional needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, adaptable and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour.
• Confidence to work in different school environments and adapt to individual pupils' needs.
• Previous experience in education, childcare, coaching, mentoring, youth work or support work would be beneficial.
• Willingness to learn, develop new skills and build a career within SEN education.

Responsibilities

• Work across SEN schools and specialist provisions in Northamptonshire.
• Support pupils with autism, SEMH, learning difficulties and complex needs.
• Help plan and deliver engaging, accessible learning activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to foster confidence and engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers and school teams to support pupil development.
• Gain experience through short-term, longer-term placements and ongoing opportunities.
