Job summary

Buckfast Abbey is offering a Production Chef Apprentice role, combining hands-on kitchen work with study toward a Level 2 Production Chef qualification. You’ll learn to prepare, cook and present high-quality dishes, follow recipes, and maintain food safety in a fast-paced environment.

Earn £10.10 per hour, with shifts across 40 hours per week, including weekdays and weekends. No prior hospitality experience is required, and you’ll receive mentoring and accredited training to develop professional

Qualifications

• Qualifications required: English and Maths GCSE minimum of Grade 3 or above.
• Interest in food and cooking with a positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Reliability, hard work and professionalism in a busy environment.
• Flexibility to work 40 hours per week across 5 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and assist with food production.
• Cook and present dishes to a high standard.
• Follow recipes and production plans accurately.
• Maintain consistency, quality and portion control.
• Uphold food hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Adhere to food safety and health & safety procedures.
• Organise and store ingredients correctly.
• Collaborate with chefs and hospitality colleagues.
• Support service during busy periods and events.
• Learn sustainable kitchen practices and reduce waste.
• Develop professional cooking techniques and skills.
• Deliver a positive dining experience for guests.
